 Social networking site Facebook received another boost in its bid to be the "Windows of the web", as venture capitalists Bay Partners launched a fund to invest in start-ups building applications for the site. Facebook recently invited developers to create applications to work within the site, rather like software developers made applications for Windows when it became the dominant operating system for the PC.
